Bristlecone Pine Over Albuquerque
These old (150+) bristlecone pines are growing at 10,500”. The city of Albuquerque, which you can see in the distance, is about 5,000” feet lower. The La Luz trail comes up in the valley between these trees and the rock outcrops. The race course starts at 7,500” and finishes at the crest at 10,600 feet. It is 7.5 mile long and the winner usually makes in about an hour!
