New Growth Ponderosa Closeup
This is what the new growth at the tip of a Ponderosa Pine branch should look like. The needles are bright green all the way to the tips. The only dead needles you see are a couple that have fallen from other branches. Pine needles live for several years but then die and fall off. On a healthy tree the dead needles are the oldest ones. If needles at the tip of a pine branch are brown something is wrong.
