Old Upper Mixed Conifer
This is old growth on the east side of the Sandia Mountains Near Albuquerque, New Mexico, USA. The elevation is about 10,500”. The tall tree on the left with the really furrowed bark is a Douglas Fir (which really isn’t a fir). There will be some Corkbark fir and Spruce mixed in. There is a small Aspen in the front and some old, un-healthy ones, mixed in.
This area is long overdue for a fire but with all the fuel on the ground a fire will be so hot not much will survive.
